Lawyer & historian.
I’ve been involved in software development, web development, systems administration, and other technical work since the beginning of my career, and I continue to integrate such work into my legal practice.

As a developer, I’ve written custom content-management systems in Perl 5, added interactivity with JavaScript and style with CSS, and created custom WordPress plugins using PHP. I’ve also done systems administration of Solaris and Linux servers, managed technical teams, and done project management, systems analysis, and operations planning in support of deploying in-house and cloud-based systems and services.

I’ve experimented with using tech tools to handle law-related activities and materials, such as keeping track of public FOIA and other public information requests via GitHub:

In a bid to improve government transparency and empower citizens, I started a new pandemic pursuit: requesting public information from state governments using their own FOIA-like laws.

More routinely, I generally focus more on data analysis—primarily in Python—in support of my legal work, as well as operations oversight, product evaluation, and technical planning to support a small law firm.
